The Omega VII China Guang is the latest rubber from the successful Omega 7 rubber series from XIOM. Although the proven technologies of the Omega 7 series are also used in the China Guang, the China Guang has a completely unique feel. For this rubber, a hard Omega VII Tensor sponge (identical hardness as the sponge of the Omega VII Tour) was combined with a new, slightly sticky Chinese top sheet. The resulting rubber offers many advantages: When playing over the table, the rubber impresses with its high level of control and its very precise feel. A variety of placements are very controlled and possible with high rotation (especially short serves and returns can be played easily and precisely with a lot of rotation). On the other hand, the hard but still very dynamic sponge develops enormous dynamics in open rallies. The dynamic sponge compensates for the slightly slower pace of the sticky topsheet in the offensive game, so that despite the sticky topsheet, you can play with a lot of pressure with this rubber. Despite the high-grip, slightly sticky top sheet, this topping is excellent for counter topspins close to the table. If you adjust your technique slightly and the ball tends to hit the ball a bit more head-on, you can do it with astonishing certainty. However, hard topspins on the backspin require a lot of work - here the powerful sponge is not active, so that the speed has to be gained by moving the arm.

Guang means light in Chinese. This is not related to the weight (the rubber is heavier than average), but to the range of uses of the rubber, because the Omega VII China Guang is surprisingly uncomplicated and forgiving. Although the rubber offers the highest performance, it is ideally suited for players who have previously played with non-sticky offensive rubbers and now want to use the advantages of sticky topsheet especially when serving / returning.

The South Korean company Champion has existed since 1976 and was known for years, especially in South Korea, for producing high-quality table tennis tables. In 2006, the in-house brand XIOM was founded, which quickly gained international recognition and popularity in the flooring and wood segment.

The start in 2006 with the Omega rubber series was extremely promising. When it comes to rubbers, the Omega series was expanded to include the Omega V and the current Omega VII series and in 2019 the Vega X was released to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vega series, which also quickly became very popular.

XIOM has also been very active in the wood sector right from the start and is always working on new technologies and developments. This also convinces various top players, so that in addition to Korean top stars such as the 2019 World Cup third-place finisher An Jae-Hyun, the Brazilian world-class player Hugo Calderano also trusts in XIOM's products.

In addition to the undoubted high quality of the various products, what we like about XIOM is, above all, the fair pricing policy and the product selection that, in our opinion, makes sense. While many other brands offer a rather confusing and ever-increasing mass of rubbers and blades, XIOM keeps its range fairly constant and only adds to it in a targeted and well-thought-out manner.

This means there is something suitable for all playing styles and levels, without being unsettling with an overwhelming selection. The naming of the rubbers (Pro, Europe, Asia, Tour) has also been largely the same for years and makes it easier for customers and ourselves to keep an overview. Also refreshing are the sometimes somewhat gaudy but always modern designs of the textiles, which represent a good alternative to the sometimes somewhat staid look of “classic” table tennis clothing.
